South Cobb point guard Devocio Butler’s (#14) break away slam dunk was an emphatic exclamation point to the team’s come back victory against the Parkview Panthers. The South Cobb Eagles defeated the Parkview Panthers by a score of 80 to 72.
In the first quarter, Parkview’s Andre Chatfield was on fire! Chatfield scored on nearly every opportunity he touched the ball, while Colby Smith (#32) made his presence felt inside. The Parkview team opened up a large lead before halftime. However, South Cobb Head Coach, Greg Moultrie made some key adjustments that would prove to be the tipping point in the second half. Moultrie decided to go small, which was risky considering how well Parkview played in the first half. South Cobb’s full court press forced Parkview into costly turnovers, while their speed and quickness soon placed several Panther players in foul trouble. However, the real undoing of Parkview was the team’s dreadful free throw shooting. The Panthers squandered many opportunities to put the game away in the closing minutes, while South Cobb kept pouring on the pressure. In the end, the South Cobb Eagles are moving on to the championship round to face Henry County on Tuesday night @ 7:30 PM.
