I really like The Hooch gym – old school, in-the-round, seats right beneath the goals. A very intimate setting, that would be rocking with a packed house. The goals were actually “portables,” which are rolled into place before each game. The only downside is there is absolutely no space behind the basket. Players have to be alert when running fast breaks, because the padded wall comes up fast!
This was billed as a key game for each team. Woodland looking to extend their season with only one loss to Lambert, and the Chattahoochee team trying to make a strong push late in the season. I was surprised that, Hooch star Jaron Blossomgame (#23 – Clemson bound) was not playing. He wasn’t listed on the injury report, so the rumors immediately began to fly.
The game was a slow starter, each team using the first quarter to feel each other out. Woodland quickly found it’s rhythm in the second quarter, behind the hot shooting of Corey Tobin (#5). The second half was all Woodland, with the Cougars unable to muster much offense. After the 3rd quarter, the game was never really in question, with Woodland winning going away 66 to 51.
